Most recent finds excavated during the construction of a tunnel under the Bosphorus, has brought the history of Istanbul back to 8000 BCE. The city has been the capital to three world empires: Roman, East Roman and Ottoman and it is therefore rich both in Christian and Islamic monuments and with museums.
